What's ATHENA?

Advanced Technology Higher Education Network Alliance – the ATHENA European University is a

federation uniting 9 universities across Europe. It draws on their combined strengths to deliver

high-quality education and research, contributing to developing solutions for green and

digital transition of Europe, addressing emerging society challenges, youth employability,

committing to technological and social advancement at the national, regional and European levels.

ATHENA focuses on advanced technologies to explore and use its advantages by educating future

professionals in an all-inclusive, interdisciplinary, collaborative, and culturally diversified way by

introducing a student-centric and value-based approach and jointly creating the European

university as the environment to study, work and live.

Jointly implemented research and educational projects enhance synergies between the member

universities and stakeholders, foster research quality and impact, boost the competitiveness of the

submitted proposals, attract funds to support its programmes and fully leverage the network’s

infrastructure and scientific potential.

ATHENA alliance initiatives are based on strong links with local ecosystems, a holistic approach to

joint education practices, supported by blended, virtual and physical mobility schemes.
